+ How It Fits — By Height and Build +
Every Atelier piece is designed with an oversized, relaxed cut. There's no "tight" fit in the range. The choice is between cropped and oversized — both are intentional.
Size Guide
Small
| Your Height | Your Build | How It Fits |
|---|---|---|
| ~5ft / 152cm | Skinny to medium | True fit. Cropped to waist. This is the intended fit — short body, relaxed through the chest. |
| ~5ft / 152cm | Medium to broad | Fitted through the chest, cropped to waist. Still wearable — the 18" pit-to-pit keeps it relaxed, not tight. |
| ~5ft3" / 160cm | Slim | Cropped above the waist. Works as a boxy crop. |
| Under 5ft | Any build | Oversized. Sits below the waist. Sleeves will run long. |
Medium
| Your Height | Your Build | How It Fits |
|---|---|---|
| ~5ft / 152cm | Any | Oversized. Sits well below the waist. Dropped shoulders. Baggy but intentional. |
| ~5ft6" / 168cm | Medium | True fit. Sits at the waist. Relaxed through the chest without being baggy. This is the core fit for Medium. |
| ~5ft6" / 168cm | Slim | Slightly relaxed. Comfortable, not tight anywhere. Sits at or just below the waist. |
| ~5ft6" / 168cm | Broad | More fitted through the chest but the 20" pit-to-pit still gives room. Sits at waist. |
| ~5ft3" / 160cm | Slim to medium | Oversized. Sits below the waist. Works well if you want a looser, dropped fit. |
Large
| Your Height | Your Build | How It Fits |
|---|---|---|
| ~5ft6" / 168cm | Any | Oversized. Noticeably baggy. Sits well below the waist. Dropped shoulders, long sleeves. A statement oversized fit. |
| ~5ft10" / 178cm | Medium | Relaxed. Sits at or just below the waist. Comfortable through the chest with room to layer underneath. |
| ~5ft10" / 178cm | Broad | True fit. The 22" pit-to-pit accommodates a broader chest while the 25" length sits at the waist. |
| ~6ft / 183cm | Slim | Sits at the waist. Relaxed but not oversized — the length works but the chest will be roomy on a slim frame. |
| ~6ft3" / 190cm | Slim | Cropped to waist. The 25" length sits above the hip on a taller frame. Fitted look. Works if you like a cropped silhouette on a longer torso. |
Extra Large
| Your Height | Your Build | How It Fits |
|---|---|---|
| ~5ft10" / 178cm | Medium | Oversized. Sits below the waist. Dropped shoulders. Maximum relaxed fit. |
| ~5ft10" / 178cm | Broad | Relaxed. Room through the chest. Sits below the waist. Comfortable for larger builds who don't want anything fitted. |
| ~6ft / 183cm | Medium to broad | Relaxed fit. Sits at or just below the waist. The 27" length gives full coverage. |
| ~6ft3" / 190cm | Slim | Oversized. The 24" pit-to-pit is roomy on a slim build. Length sits at or below the waist — full coverage. Dropped shoulders. This is the oversized look on a tall, slim frame. |
| ~6ft3" / 190cm | Medium | True fit. Sits at the waist. The 27" length and 24" pit-to-pit work naturally on a taller, medium build. |
| ~6ft3" / 190cm | Broad | Comfortable. Room in the chest without being baggy. Length sits at the waist. |

How to Measure Yourself
-
1.
Pit to pit
Lay the piece flat. Measure straight across the chest from armpit seam to armpit seam.
-
2.
Length
Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (where the shoulder seam meets the collar) straight down to the bottom hem.
-
3.
Sleeve
Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Compare your measurements to the chart above. If you're between sizes, go up for oversized, stay down for cropped.
+ Things Worth Knowing +
- Every piece is cut differently.
Atelier uses a range of blanks — heavyweight cotton tees, vintage deadstock, repurposed garments. Measurements may vary by 0.5-1" from piece to piece. That's the nature of hand-made.
- The oversized cut is intentional.
These aren't slim-fit pieces that run big. The relaxed silhouette is the design. Even the "true fit" sizes have room.
- Cropped doesn't mean small.
A Small on a 5ft frame and a Large on a 6ft3" frame are both cropped — the width is different but the proportion is the same. If you want it cropped, stay true to size or go down. If you want it long, size up.
- When in doubt, go up.
Oversized always works with Atelier pieces. The prints, patches, and construction are designed to be seen — a bigger canvas shows more of the work.
- 1/1 pieces may vary.
Some 1/1 pieces use vintage or reworked blanks where sizing is unique to the individual garment. If a piece has unusual sizing, it'll be noted on the product page.
Still Not Sure?
Drop us a message @madebyatelier on Instagram with your height and build. We'll tell you which size to go for. Every piece is 1/1 — getting the right fit matters because there's no restock, no exchange for the same one in a different size. We'd rather you get it right first time.
